hutt

Hutt is a term used for a sentient species in the Star Wars universe. They are slug-like, carnivorous-looking aliens native to Nal Hutta, a planet in the region known as Hutt Space. They are best known for their immense size, long lifespans, and prominent role in galactic commerce and crime. Hutts typically have large, rounded bodies with two small forelimbs, eyes on stalks, and little to no mobility beyond sliding motion; their skin can be green, gray, or brown. They are capable of limited speech, and their language Huttese is widely used across the galaxy.

They inhabit Nal Hutta and Nar Shaddaa, the latter being a heavily urbanized moon known as the Smuggler's Moon, often controlled or influenced by Hutt crime families. The Hutts organize themselves into clans and criminal networks under the umbrella of the Hutt Cartel. Crime, smuggling, gambling, and spice trafficking are among their most notable activities in Star Wars narratives. Hutts favor wealth and leisure, often employing human and alien workers and slaves to run operations.

Notable individuals include Jabba the Hutt, Bib Fortuna, Ziro the Hutt, Gardulla the Hutt. They appear across films, animated series, comics, and novels, from A New Hope to The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, with Huttese serving as a common lingua franca.
