Hoxhaism is an Albanian political ideology that emerged as a communist variant. It is associated with Enver Hoxha, the leader of Albania's Communist Party from 1944 until his death in 1985. Hoxhaism was characterized by a rigid and nationalist interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which emphasized the need for Albania to maintain its independence and self-reliance in the face of capitalist and communist powers.

The ideology emphasized the importance of central planning and a strong, centralized government. It also advocated for a policy of non-alignment in international affairs, allowing Albania to maintain its sovereignty despite pressure from other nations. Hoxhaism also placed a strong emphasis on the role of the state in promoting economic development and reducing social inequality.

Hoxhaism is often associated with Albania's isolation from the international community during Hoxha's rule. The country was one of the few in the world to oppose Chinese efforts to establish ties with Soviet-aligned communist states. This led to a series of conflicts with neighboring countries, including Greece and Yugoslavia. Hoxhaism also led to a period of intense social repression, including the suppression of individual freedoms and intellectual dissent.

After Hoxha's death in 1985, the Albanian government began to move away from Hoxhaist ideology, implementing economic reforms and reengaging with the international community. Today, Hoxhaism is largely remembered as a relic of a bygone era, a symbol of Albania's complex and often tumultuous history.
