Horai, also rendered as Horae or Hōrai, is a term used for two distinct mythological traditions: the Greek personifications of time and seasons, and the legendary East Asian land of immortality.

In Greek mythology, the Horae are goddesses who personify the hours, seasons, and the natural order. They are typically described as daughters of Zeus and Themis and are associated with the orderly progression of time and the cycles of nature. The number and names of the Horae vary by source; in many traditions they appear as three sisters representing the seasons, while other accounts include additional figures that align with the months or other divisions of time. Over time the Horae came to symbolize both seasonal change and the proper order of society and the world.

In East Asian folklore, Hōrai (蓬莱), often transliterated as Horai, refers to a legendary island or realm of immortals. It is commonly identified with Penglai and is imagined as a paradise located beyond the seas, inhabited by gods or immortals and associated with the legendary peaches of immortality and the Queen Mother of the West. The concept appears in Chinese literature and art and was transmitted to Japan in various forms, where it is known as Hourai or Hōrai. The motif has been used to evoke an otherworldly, timeless place in East Asian cultural imagination.

The two uses of Horai are etymologically unrelated beyond sharing a Romanized form in English. In modern times, the term may appear in fiction or scholarship to denote antiquity or mythic cosmology without implying a single, unified tradition.
