Hermeneutikában is the Hungarian term for hermeneutics, the theory and methodology of interpretation, especially the interpretation of biblical texts, wisdom literature, and philosophical texts. It is a concept that has evolved significantly throughout history, from ancient Greek philosophy to contemporary thought.

At its core, hermeneutics is concerned with the principles and methods involved in understanding and explaining the meaning of texts. This understanding is not seen as a simple, objective extraction of information but rather as a complex process influenced by the interpreter's background, assumptions, and the historical context of both the text and the interpreter. Key to hermeneutics is the idea of the "hermeneutic circle," which posits that understanding a part of a text requires understanding the whole, and understanding the whole requires understanding its parts. This iterative process of moving between the specific and the general is fundamental to interpretation.

Philosophical hermeneutics, particularly as developed by thinkers like Martin Heidegger and Hans-Georg Gadamer, expanded the scope of hermeneutics beyond just textual interpretation. It came to encompass the understanding of human existence, experience, and the nature of truth itself. In this view, understanding is not merely an intellectual act but a fundamental aspect of being in the world. Hermeneutics also plays a crucial role in fields such as theology, law, literary criticism, and social sciences, where the accurate and nuanced interpretation of various forms of communication is essential.
