Heimsmarkmiðum, or the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are a set of 17 interconnected goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015. These goals are designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all." They address a wide range of global challenges, including poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water, affordable energy, economic growth, innovation, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace and justice, and partnerships.
