Génkódolásban, often translated as "in gene encoding" or "gene coding" in English, refers to the process by which the genetic information stored in DNA is translated into functional proteins. This intricate biological mechanism is fundamental to all living organisms, dictating the traits and functions of cells and ultimately, the entire organism. The process begins with transcription, where a specific segment of DNA, a gene, is copied into a messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule. This mRNA then travels out of the nucleus to the ribosomes, the cellular machinery responsible for protein synthesis.

At the ribosome, the genetic code on the mRNA is read in triplets of nucleotides called codons. Each codon corresponds to a specific amino acid, the building blocks of proteins. As the ribosome moves along the mRNA, it sequentially links these amino acids together, forming a polypeptide chain.
