Gyomorstruktúrák refers to the various anatomical and functional components of the stomach, a vital organ in the digestive system of many animals, including humans. Understanding these structures is crucial for comprehending digestion and potential gastrointestinal issues.

The stomach wall is composed of several layers. The innermost layer is the mucosa, which contains gastric glands responsible for producing digestive enzymes, hydrochloric acid, and mucus. The muscularis mucosae, a thin layer of smooth muscle, lies beneath the mucosa, followed by the submucosa, a layer of connective tissue containing blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatics. The muscularis externa is a thick layer of smooth muscle responsible for the churning and mixing of food. Finally, the outermost layer is the serosa, a protective membrane.

Within the stomach, distinct regions are recognized based on their histological and functional characteristics. The cardia is the area where the esophagus connects to the stomach, characterized by cardiac glands. The fundus is the dome-shaped upper portion, primarily involved in storage and containing chief cells that produce pepsinogen. The body, or corpus, is the largest part of the stomach, where most gastric secretions occur. The pyloric region, located at the lower end, includes the pyloric antrum and the pyloric canal, which leads to the small intestine. The pyloric sphincter, a muscular ring, controls the passage of chyme from the stomach into the duodenum. These structural divisions work in concert to process food, kill pathogens, and initiate protein digestion.
