Inductive sensors detect metallic objects by generating an electromagnetic field and measuring changes in the field's inductance when a metal object enters it. Capacitive sensors, on the other hand, detect both metallic and non-metallic objects by sensing changes in capacitance caused by the presence of an object within their electrostatic field.

Photoelectric sensors use a beam of light to detect objects. They typically consist of a transmitter that emits light and a receiver that detects it. The object is detected when it interrupts or reflects the light beam. Ultrasonic sensors emit sound waves and measure the time it takes for the waves to return after reflecting off an object. This time measurement allows the sensor to determine the distance to the object.
