Gravitacion is the fundamental force of attraction that exists between any two objects with mass. It is one of the four fundamental forces of nature, alongside the electromagnetic force, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force. The more massive an object is, the stronger its gravitational pull. Similarly, the closer two objects are, the stronger the gravitational attraction between them.

Historically, Isaac Newton's law of universal gravitation, formulated in the late 17th century, provided a mathematical description of this force. Newton's law states that the gravitational force between two point masses is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. This law accurately describes many gravitational phenomena, such as the orbits of planets around the sun and the falling of objects to Earth.

Later, Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity, developed in the early 20th century, offered a more profound understanding of gravitacion. General relativity describes gravitacion not as a force in the traditional sense, but as a curvature of spacetime caused by the presence of mass and energy. Massive objects warp the fabric of spacetime around them, and other objects follow these curves, which we perceive as the effect of gravitacion. This theory has been extensively tested and confirmed, explaining phenomena that Newton's law could not, such as the bending of light by gravity and the precise orbit of Mercury. Gravitacion plays a crucial role in the formation and evolution of stars, planets, galaxies, and the large-scale structure of the universe.
