glipper

Glipper is a clipboard manager for the GNOME desktop environment. It monitors the system clipboard (and often the primary selection) and keeps a history of copied items, allowing users to recall and reuse them from a popup interface. It is designed to be lightweight and extensible through plugins, enabling features such as item filtering, URL detection, or actions triggered when an item is copied.

Core features typically include a history of clipboard entries with search, per-item actions (paste, copy again, edit), configurable history length, and options to automatically save or discard certain items. The plugin system allows additional input types or integrations with other applications.

Technical notes: Glipper is commonly implemented using Python with GTK bindings and stores data in memory with optional persistence. It is intended for Linux and other Unix-like systems using the X Window System. Because of evolving desktop environments, development activity has varied and some distributions package forks or unmaintained versions.

Legacy and status: Glipper was widely used in the GNOME ecosystem in the late 2000s and early 2010s as a lightweight clipboard manager.
