Gecarbureerd is a Dutch term that translates to "carbureted" in English, referring to an internal combustion engine that uses a carburetor. A carburetor is a device that mixes air and fuel in the correct proportion for combustion. It works by drawing fuel into an airstream, atomizing it into small droplets, and then mixing it with the air before it enters the engine's cylinders.

In older vehicles and small engines, carburetors were the primary method of fuel delivery. They are relatively simple mechanical devices that rely on the Venturi effect to draw fuel. As air is drawn through a constricted section of the carburetor (the Venturi), its speed increases, and its pressure decreases. This lower pressure creates a vacuum that draws fuel from a reservoir (the float bowl) through small jets and into the airstream.
