Treatment for gastroenteritis usually involves supportive care, such as rehydration with oral or intravenous fluids, to prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Prevention of gastroenteritis involves good hygiene practices, such as washing hands frequently, cooking food thoroughly, and avoiding contact with known sources of infection. Vaccinations against certain viruses, such as rotavirus, can also help reduce the risk of infection. In situations where gastroenteritis is a significant concern, such as in healthcare settings or among vulnerable populations, infection control measures may be implemented to minimize the spread of the disease.
