Färgsynsstörning, often referred to as color blindness, is a condition where an individual has difficulty distinguishing between certain colors. It is typically inherited and affects men more frequently than women. The most common type is red-green color blindness, where distinguishing between red and green hues is problematic. Other forms include blue-yellow color blindness and, much less commonly, achromatopsia, which is the complete absence of color vision, resulting in seeing the world in shades of gray.
The cause of color blindness lies in the photoreceptor cells in the retina, specifically the cone cells.
