Funknavigationshilfen, often translated as radio navigation aids, are systems that use radio waves to assist in determining position and guiding aircraft, ships, and vehicles. These systems have played a crucial role in transportation safety and efficiency for decades, evolving from simple beacons to sophisticated integrated networks.

Coupled with Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), which provides slant range distance, VOR/DME systems offer accurate position fixing.
