Frontplates, or front panels, are the front-facing parts of a device, enclosure, or instrument that carry controls, indicators, displays, connectors, and labeling. They form the primary user interface and, in many designs, also provide a protective boundary between the user and the internal components. A frontplate is typically a rigid plate attached to the enclosure by screws, brackets, or clips and can be removable for servicing, or integral to the chassis in more compact designs. Openings, windows, bezels, or seals may be included to accommodate switches, meters, screens, or controls, and to meet environmental or ingress protection requirements.
