friliggande

Friliggande is a Swedish term used in architecture, planning and real estate to describe a building that is not connected to other structures on at least one side. In practice it most often refers to a detached residence or house on its own plot, i.e., a friliggande villa or friliggande hus. A friliggande building stands with space around it and has exterior walls that are not shared with neighboring structures; the plot typically includes private yard or garden.

In housing markets, the term contrasts with attached forms such as radhus (row house) or parhus (semi-detached).
