Frekvencie is the term for frequency in several languages; it denotes the number of times a periodic event occurs in a given time interval. In physics, frequency f is measured in hertz (Hz), where 1 Hz equals one cycle per second. For angular frequency, ω = 2πf, measured in radians per second.

Frequency is inversely related to the period T: f = 1/T. The reciprocal relationship means longer periods yield lower frequencies and vice versa. Units include cycles per second as well as kilohertz (kHz), megahertz (MHz), and gigahertz (GHz).

Measurement and standards: frequency counters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers are used to determine or monitor frequencies. Stability and accuracy depend on the time base, environmental conditions, and reference standards such as cesium clocks. In electronics, frequency synthesis and phase-locked loops enable precise generation of chosen frequencies.

Applications and domains: in acoustics, frequency determines pitch; in radio and telecommunications, it defines bands and propagation characteristics; in digital systems, sampling frequency must exceed twice the highest signal frequency (Nyquist), with the Nyquist frequency equal to half the sampling rate. In mechanics, natural frequencies govern resonance and vibrational modes. The relation to wavelength is λ = v/f, linking frequency to wave speed.
