Frekansa is the term used in several languages to denote frequency, the rate at which a periodic event occurs. In physics, frekansa is the number of complete cycles per unit time, with the SI unit hertz (Hz), equal to one cycle per second. For angular frequency, frekansa is related by ω = 2πf.

The concept applies to all oscillatory phenomena, including sound waves, light, and electronic signals. The wavelength corresponding to a given frekansa in vacuum is λ = c/f; higher frekansa means shorter wavelength and often higher pitch in acoustics or higher photon energy in optics.
