Forstyrrelserne, also known as the Disturbances, were a period of significant unrest in Denmark that took place in 1387-1388. The disturbances were a series of violent clashes between nobles and commoners, as well as between different noble factions, that shook the country to its foundations.

The disturbances began in 1387, when a group of nobles, led by Peder Stranden and Anders Pak, staged an uprising against King Oluf II, who was seen as weak and ineffective. The rebels claimed that Oluf's rule was a threat to the liberties of the nobility, and they sought to replace him with a new king who would prioritize their interests.

However, the situation quickly spiralled out of control, and the disturbances soon spread throughout the country. Towns and villages were attacked and burned, and several prominent nobles were killed in the violence. By 1388, it seemed as though Denmark was on the brink of civil war.

Fortunately, the disturbances were eventually brought under control through a combination of military force and negotiations. King Oluf's brother, Queen Margarethe I, played a key role in mediating a peace agreement between the warring factions. She proved to be a shrewd and effective leader, and her efforts helped to restore order to Denmark.

The forstyrrelserne, as they came to be known, had a profound impact on Danish history. They highlighted the deep divisions within the nobility and the fragility of the country's social and political structures. However, they also demonstrated the resilience and resourcefulness of the Danish people, who were able to work together to overcome adversity and achieve a measure of stability.
