fluistertoon

Fluistertoon is a Dutch term describing a voice quality or vocal effect characterized by a whisper-like timbre. It may denote either a whispered instance of speech or a singing technique that produces the voice with very low intensity, giving a tone that resembles whispering rather than full voicing.

Production and acoustics: In strict whisper, vocal folds do not vibrate and the sound arises from turbulence

Contexts and usage: In Dutch-language pedagogy, as well as in theatre and popular music, fluistertoon is employed
