Fluid mediums refers to substances that can flow and take the shape of their container. This broad category encompasses both liquids and gases. Liquids possess a definite volume but an indefinite shape, meaning they will spread out to fill the bottom of a container but maintain their overall size. Gases, on the other hand, have neither a definite volume nor a definite shape, expanding to fill the entire volume of their enclosure. The ability to flow is a defining characteristic of fluid mediums, distinguishing them from solids which maintain a fixed shape and volume.
