FlerDOFsystemer, or multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) systems, are mechanical systems that have more than one degree of freedom. In contrast to single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems, which have only one independent parameter, MDOF systems have multiple parameters, allowing for more complex and varied motion.

In contrast, a double pendulum is an MDOF system, as its motion is defined by two angles, one for each pendulum.

The analysis of MDOF systems can be more complex than that of SDOF systems, as it requires solving a system of differential equations rather than a single equation. However, modern computational tools and numerical methods have made the analysis of MDOF systems more feasible.

MDOF systems are used in a wide range of applications, including robotics, aerospace engineering, and structural dynamics. In robotics, for example, the motion of a robotic arm can be modeled as an MDOF system, with each joint representing a degree of freedom. In aerospace engineering, the dynamics of an aircraft can be modeled as an MDOF system, with each component of the aircraft contributing to the overall motion. In structural dynamics, the response of a building or bridge to an earthquake or other dynamic load can be modeled as an MDOF system, with each floor or section of the structure representing a degree of freedom.
