filiarse
Filiarse is a verb attested in some varieties of Spanish that means to join or become affiliated with a political party, a labor union, an association, or another organized group. In standard usage, the more common form is afiliarse, and filiarse is often described as regional, archaic, or nonstandard. When used, it is reflexive and typically followed by the name of the organization, for example, filiarse a un partido or filiarse a un sindicato. Because of its limited acceptance, many dictionaries note filiarse as a variant of afiliarse rather than a separate, widely used verb.
