Fibrokapsel is a fibrous capsule, a dense layer of connective tissue that surrounds and delineates certain organs, glands, or neoplasms. The capsule is composed mainly of collagen fibers produced by fibroblasts and may contain small vessels and occasional elastic fibers. It can be a preformed anatomical structure surrounding an organ, or it may form around a tumor as a boundary between the lesion and surrounding tissues.

The fibrokapsel serves several functions: it provides mechanical protection and support, helps maintain the organ’s shape, and defines a separable boundary that can facilitate surgical removal. In tumor pathology, the capsule can influence how a growth behaves clinically. A true fibrous capsule around a tumor often indicates a benign process and can limit invasion, whereas malignant tumors may erode or penetrate it; some tumors may generate a pseudocapsule by compression of surrounding tissue rather than a true capsule.

The presence and integrity of a fibrokapsel can be relevant to imaging, surgical planning, and histopathological assessment. Not all organs possess a distinct fibrokapsel; when present it is typically most evident in tissues that tolerate mechanical protection and clear demarcation. Disruption or inflammation of the capsule can alter tissue appearance and may accompany disease processes.
