fektettem

Fektettem is the first-person singular simple past tense form of the Hungarian verb fektet, which means to lay something down in a horizontal position or to place flat. It is used to describe a completed action in the past and is not related to financial investment (that sense is conveyed by the verb befektetni).

Morphology and form: The past tense is created by adding the suffix -tem to the stem fektet-, resulting in fektettem. Because the stem ends with a consonant t, the spelling produces a double t in the middle: fektettem. This form follows standard Hungarian past-tense conjugation for verbs that end in a consonant before the personal ending.

The verb can also appear in prefixed forms when the action is oriented toward a person, especially in the sense of laying someone down; however, the common reflexive-prefixed version for putting someone to rest is lefektettem (e.g., lefektettem a gyereket az ágyba – I laid the child down in bed).
