In interpersonal relationships, faithfulness commonly refers to fidelity in romantic partnerships, including sexual and emotional exclusivity, and to a broader pattern of loyalty, support, and dependable behavior. Societal norms about what constitutes faithfulness vary across cultures and contexts, and the concept can be challenged by competing loyalties or changing commitments.
