Etüleenglükool is the Turkish-language name for ethylene glycol, also known as ethane-1,2-diol. It is a colourless, syrup-like liquid at room temperature with a molecular formula of C2H6O2 and a CAS number of 107-21-1. Its IUPAC name is ethane-1,2-diol, and it is the simplest member of the glycol family.

Physically, ethylene glycol is miscible with water and many organic solvents, has a boiling point of 197.3°C and a melting point of -12.9°C. It is hygroscopic and has a relatively high viscosity compared with water. It lacks a strong odor and is typically colorless.

Production is primarily by the catalytic hydration of ethylene oxide, usually under acid- or base-catalyzed conditions, or via indirect processes derived from ethylene oxide. It is manufactured at large industrial scales by chemical companies for widespread use.

Applications include its use as an antifreeze and coolant in automotive and industrial fluids, in de-icing solutions, and as a heat-transfer fluid. It also serves as a precursor in the production of polymers such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and certain unsaturated polyester resins.
