Epiteelisoluryhmiä, known in English as epithelial cell arrangements or clusters, refers to the characteristic patterns in which epithelial cells organize themselves within tissues. These arrangements are crucial for the function and structure of various organs and surfaces. Epithelial tissues are broadly classified based on the number of cell layers and the shape of the cells.

Simple epithelia consist of a single layer of cells, which can be squamous (flat), cuboidal (cube-shaped), or columnar (tall and rectangular). These are often found where diffusion, filtration, or secretion is important, such as in the lining of blood vessels or kidney tubules. Stratified epithelia, on the other hand, have multiple layers of cells, providing protection in areas subject to wear and tear, like the skin's epidermis.

Specific arrangements within these categories include pseudostratified columnar epithelium, which appears stratified but is actually a single layer with nuclei at different levels, and transitional epithelium, which is found in organs that undergo stretching, such as the bladder. The precise arrangement of epithelial cells is dictated by their developmental origin and the specific physiological demands placed upon the tissue.
