The physis is a cartilaginous layer found in growing long bones, responsible for longitudinal bone growth. Epifüüsealuse refers to damage or abnormality within this specific region.

This condition can arise from various causes, including trauma, such as fractures that extend into the physis, or repetitive stress injuries. Infections can also affect the epiphyseal plate, leading to inflammation and damage.
