ensivälittäjäaineiden
Ensivälittäjäaineet, also known as primary neurotransmitters, are a class of chemical messengers within the nervous system that directly bind to and activate postsynaptic receptors. Unlike neuromodulators, which often have indirect or longer-lasting effects, ensivälittäjäaineet mediate rapid and direct communication between neurons. When an action potential arrives at the presynaptic terminal, these molecules are released into the synaptic cleft and diffuse across to bind to specific receptors on the postsynaptic membrane.
This binding event triggers a change in the postsynaptic neuron's membrane potential, either causing excitation (depolarization)
