Energydensing is a term used in energy science to describe strategies that increase the energy density of an energy system, with emphasis on storage and propulsion. It encompasses methods that raise energy per unit mass (gravimetric energy density) or per unit volume (volumetric energy density), and can involve materials, architecture, and operational techniques.

The term is a neologism and is not yet standardized across disciplines. It has appeared in technical discussions and some research articles since the early 2020s, but its precise definition and boundaries vary between communities.

Common approaches fall into three broad categories: chemical or material innovations that raise the amount of stored energy per unit mass or volume, structural or system-level design that reduces energy losses and tightens packaging, and the use of high-energy-density fuels or storage media. Examples include advanced battery chemistries, solid-state or high-nickel chemistries, densified fuels, and optimized thermal or electrochemical architectures.

Energydensing is particularly relevant to portable electronics, electric vehicles, aerospace, and grid storage, where higher energy density can extend range, reliability, or uptime. The research focus often includes safety, durability, cost, and manufacturability, as higher density materials can pose new thermal or chemical risks.
