The electronvolt (eV) is a unit of energy commonly used in atomic and particle physics. It represents the energy gained or lost by a single electron when it moves through an electric potential difference of one volt.

In the context of electricity, the kilowatt-hour (kWh) is a practical unit of energy consumption. One kilowatt-hour is the energy consumed by a device with a power of one kilowatt operating for one hour. This is the unit typically used for billing electricity usage.

Other less common units include the erg, British Thermal Unit (BTU), and horsepower-hour. The choice of energy unit often depends on the scale and nature of the energy being measured, as well as historical context and regional conventions. Understanding these different units is crucial for accurate scientific and engineering calculations.
