endurecibles

Endurecibles are engineered targets designed to withstand repeated impacts and harsh environmental conditions while remaining functional for measurement and observation.

The term is used primarily in niche materials science and defense research contexts; it does not have a widely recognized standard definition and is not common outside specialized programs.

Typical construction uses a layered approach: an outer hard facing such as ceramic or high-hardness polymer to resist penetration, a mid-layer for energy absorption, and a backing that preserves geometry and allows rapid reuse. Some designs incorporate sensors to log impact location, velocity, and deformation.

Applications include ballistic testing, armor evaluation, calibration of impact-measurement systems, and training environments where repeatable target behavior is required.

Advantages include reusability and controlled failure modes, enabling consistent data across tests. Limitations involve higher cost and weight, sensitivity to temperature and environmental exposure, and trade-offs between hardness and resistance to different threat types. There is no universal international standard specifically for endurecibles; they are typically specified within project briefs or vendor specifications.
