Endoskooppipää, known in English as an endoscope tip or endoscope head, refers to the part of an endoscope that is inserted into the body during a medical procedure. This small, often flexible component houses the essential components for visualization and, in many cases, therapeutic interventions. At its forefront, it typically contains a light source, usually an LED, to illuminate the internal body cavity being examined. Adjacent to the light source is a camera or lens system, which captures images or video and transmits them to an external monitor for the physician to view.

Beyond visualization, many endoscope tips are equipped with working channels. These channels are narrow tubes that allow the passage of instruments such as forceps, snares, biopsy tools, or injection needles. This enables diagnostic procedures like tissue sampling or therapeutic interventions like polyp removal or cauterization to be performed through the same opening. The design of the endoscope tip is crucial for its functionality, maneuverability, and the specific medical application. Different endoscopes, designed for various parts of the body like the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, or urinary tract, will have tips with variations in size, shape, and the number and type of working channels. The materials used for the tip are chosen for their biocompatibility and durability.
