endeminen
Endeminen, or endemism, is the ecological and biogeographical condition in which a species, population, or taxon is native to and restricted to a particular geographic area. Endemic taxa occur when lineages evolve in isolation or persist within habitats that are geographically contained, such as islands, isolated mountains, or restricted ecosystems within a continent.
Two principal forms are paleoendemism and neoendemism. Paleoendemics are ancient lineages that have survived in a
Geographic patterns: Islands are hotspots of endemism, but endemism also occurs in isolated mountain regions and

Endemism is a central concept in biodiversity research and conservation planning, helping identify regions of high
