Elektronimäärät refers to the quantity of electrons present in a given system or entity. This concept is fundamental in chemistry and physics, playing a crucial role in understanding atomic structure, chemical bonding, and electrical conductivity.

In atomic physics, the electron configuration of an atom describes the arrangement of electrons in its various energy levels and orbitals. The total number of electrons in a neutral atom is equal to its atomic number, which is the number of protons in its nucleus. For ions, the electron count differs from the number of protons, resulting in a net positive or negative charge. The way electrons are distributed and the number of valence electrons, those in the outermost shell, dictate an atom's chemical reactivity and its tendency to form bonds with other atoms.
