ekonomiaj

Ekonomiaj is an Esperanto adjective, the plural form of ekonomia, meaning related to the economy or to economics. It is used to describe plural nouns, for example, ekonomiaj indikiloj (economic indicators), ekonomiaj problemoj (economic problems), and ekonomiaj reformoj (economic reforms).

In Esperanto, adjectives generally agree with the noun in number, and usually precede the noun. Therefore, you would say la ekonomiaj situacioj (the economic situations) or la ekonomiaj politikoj (the economic policies). The predicative use also follows agreement: La situacio estas ekonomia (the situation is economic) and La situacioj estas ekonomiaj (the situations are economic).

Senses and nuance: ekonomiaj usually conveys a sense tied to the field of economy or economics. The term corresponding to thrift or being economical in the sense of saving is more often expressed with other words such as frugema.
