The dyne-centimeter is the CGS unit of torque (moment of force) in the centimeter-gram-second system. In CGS, force is measured in dynes and distance in centimeters, so the product of force and lever arm gives torque in dyne-centimeters, often written as dyn·cm. By definition, a torque of one dyne acting at a perpendicular distance of one centimeter from the pivot equals one dyne-centimeter.
