Dual bevel refers to a feature found on some miter saws that allows the blade to tilt to both the left and right sides. This capability enables bevel cuts without repositioning or flipping the workpiece, making it easier to create certain joints and moldings. Dual bevel is commonly described in contrast to single-bevel systems, where the blade tilts in only one direction.

In practice, dual bevel capability is often part of a compound or dual-bevel compound miter saw. Users set the miter angle with the table and the bevel angle with the hinge mechanism, then make compound cuts by tilting the blade to the desired side. This is particularly useful for crown molding, picture frames, and other trim work that requires bevels on multiple faces.

Operation and considerations. Bevel angles are typically marked on a scale that allows tilting the blade a predefined number of degrees, commonly up to 45 degrees left or right. When combined with miter adjustments, dual bevel saws enable complex joints without flipping the workpiece. However, dual bevel saws tend to be heavier and more expensive than single-bevel models, and they may require more space and careful setup to maintain accuracy. Some users appreciate the efficiency and reduced handling of dual bevel systems, while others prioritize simplicity and lower cost.
