douanecodes
Douanecodes, also known as Harmonized System (HS) codes, are an internationally standardized system of names and numbers to classify traded products. Developed and maintained by the World Customs Organization (WCO), these codes are used by customs authorities in more than 200 countries and economies as a basis for customs tariffs and for the collection of international trade statistics. The HS code is a six-digit number, where the first two digits represent the Chapter, the next two digits represent the Heading, and the final two digits represent the Subheading. Many countries extend this system with additional digits to create more detailed national subdivisions.
The primary purpose of douanecodes is to provide a uniform and consistent classification of goods worldwide.
