Television sets, often shortened to TVs, are electronic devices that receive broadcast signals and display moving images and sound. These displayed images by directing electron beams onto a phosphorescent screen.

Further development brought Light Emitting Diode (LED) TVs, which are a type of LCD TV that uses LEDs for backlighting, offering improved contrast and thinner designs. Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology represents another significant leap, where each pixel emits its own light, resulting in superior black levels and wider viewing angles.

Modern televisions often incorporate "smart" capabilities, allowing them to connect to the internet and access streaming services, apps, and web browsing. High-definition (HD) and ultra-high-definition (UHD), also known as 4K, resolutions have become standard, providing sharper and more detailed images. Features like HDR (High Dynamic Range) further enhance picture quality by offering a wider range of colors and contrast. The primary function of a TV remains entertainment, but their connectivity and advanced features have expanded their utility in many households.
