Limitations include finite moisture‑absorbing capacity and potential issues such as dust generation or chemical reactivity with certain substances. Safety considerations depend on the material: many desiccants are non‑toxic when used properly, but ingestion can be hazardous, and some may irritate or cause physical injury if mishandled.
