Taxonomy and naming: In this fictional framework, Dellansia belongs to the family Dellansiaceae, a monotypic family named after the genus. The name reflects a constructed Latinized form used to mirror real taxonomic conventions.

Description: Dellansia comprises herbaceous perennials or annuals reaching 15–40 cm in height. Leaves are simple, alternate, with entire margins. The inflorescence is a terminal cyme of showy flowers; the corolla is typically five-lobed and colors range from blue to violet. The fruit is a small achene.

Distribution and habitat: Endemic to montane cloud forests of the fictional region of Alto Cantón, in the northern tropics; plants are usually found on shaded understory slopes at elevations of 1,000–2,200 meters.

Species: The genus currently includes three described species: Dellansia alba, with white flowers; Dellansia purpurea, with purple flowers; and Dellansia caerulea, with blue flowers.

Ecology and uses: Pollination occurs mainly via native bees. In cultivation, Dellansia is occasionally grown as a decorative plant in temperate glasshouses, but it is not widely distributed in cultivation outside its fictional region.

Taxonomic history: The genus was described by the fictional botanist A. L. Hart in 2040 in the imagined flora of Alto Cantón; subsequent revisions in 2042 and 2051 refined species boundaries and informal classification within the group.
