Deiodinálódik is a Hungarian term that translates to "deiodinates" or "undergoes deiodination" in English. It refers to a chemical reaction where iodine atoms are removed from a molecule. This process is particularly significant in the context of thyroid hormones.

In the human body, the thyroid gland produces hormones such as thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These hormones play a crucial role in regulating metabolism, growth, and development. Deiodination is the primary mechanism by which these hormones are converted and activated or inactivated. Enzymes called deiodinases catalyze this process.

There are different types of deiodinases, each with specific functions. For instance, 5'-deiodinase converts the inactive T4 into the more potent T3.
