Technically, deep linking relies on URL schemes or universal/app links. iOS uses Universal Links; Android uses App Links and intent filters. If the app is not installed, standard deep links may fall back to a web page. Deferred deep linking often requires a service to preserve the destination across installs.

In practice, using deeplinked content requires attention to privacy, security, and consent for app launches, as well as reliable fallbacks and robust attribution for analytics.
