Célértéke is a Hungarian term that translates to “target value” or “desired value” in English. It denotes the value that a quantity, system, or model aims to achieve under given conditions. The term is used across disciplines to describe an ideal or reference point against which actual values are compared or toward which a process is steered.

In mathematics and optimization, the célértéke of a variable or function is the value that a solution should reach. Problems may define tolerances around the célértéke, or aim to minimize the deviation from it. In iterative algorithms, updating rules often move the current estimate closer to the célértéke.

In control theory and engineering, the target value is commonly referred to as the setpoint.
