curlin
Curlin is an American Thoroughbred racehorse who emerged as one of the leading performers of his era. He was foaled on February 2, 2004, sired by Smart Strike and out of Sherriff's Deputy. Trained by Steven M. Asmussen and ridden by Robby Albarado in key races, Curlin rose to prominence as a three-year-old in 2007, winning the Preakness Stakes and later the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Monmouth Park. He was named American Horse of the Year for 2007 and earned a second Horse of the Year title in 2008 after a victory in the Dubai World Cup at Meydan.
Following his on-track success, Curlin was retired to stud duty at Lane's End Farm in Versailles, Kentucky.
