Cronotopias are a concept in literary and cultural theory that refers to the interconnectedness of time and space within a narrative or a particular cultural context. The term was coined by the Russian literary critic Mikhail Bakhtin in his work on the novel. Bakhtin argued that time and space are not merely a backdrop for events but are actively shaped and influence each other, creating unique "chronotopes." These chronotopes provide the framework within which characters and events unfold, and they carry their own set of social and historical meanings.
Examples of chronotopes include the "adventure chronotope," characterized by movement through space and time leading to
