corujas

Corujas are a family of birds of prey belonging to the order Strigiformes. They are found on every continent except Antarctica. Corujas are characterized by their large eyes, forward-facing heads, and silent flight. Their eyesight is exceptionally keen, particularly in low light conditions, allowing them to hunt effectively at night. Many species also possess acute hearing, which they use to locate prey hidden beneath foliage or snow.

The diet of corujas varies widely depending on the species and habitat, but typically includes small mammals such as rodents, insects, and other birds. There are over 200 recognized species of corujas, ranging in size from the tiny elf owl, which is only about 5 inches long, to the great grey owl, which can have a wingspan of over 5 feet. Their plumage provides excellent camouflage, allowing them to blend in with their surroundings. Corujas play an important role in their ecosystems by controlling populations of rodents and other small animals. Their presence is often seen as a sign of a healthy environment.
