The term coronalfrontal is not standard in anatomical nomenclature. In human anatomy, the coronal plane, also called the frontal plane, is a vertical plane that divides the body into anterior (front) and posterior (back) portions. Because coronalfrontal is not widely used, when encountered it likely reflects a conflation or a typographical error rather than a distinct anatomical term.

The coronal/frontal plane is used to describe anatomical sections and imaging orientations. In radiology and in MRI or CT, coronal reconstructions present structures as viewed from the front, enabling assessment of relationships between organs, vessels, and tissues in a front-to-back perspective. It contrasts with the sagittal plane, which divides left from right, and with the transverse plane, which divides superior from inferior. In many contexts the terms coronal and frontal are treated as synonyms, but coronalfrontal is not a standard form in formal writing.

Etymology and usage notes: The name coronal derives from corona, crown, reflecting a crown-like encirclement around the head; frontal derives from the forehead area. The two terms describe the same plane in humans, though some sources favor one term over the other. The combined form coronalfrontal should be avoided in formal writing.
